Contaminated or change in formula??
Been feeding my cats Nutrish for over a year now. Opened a new bag just before the weekend, by Saturday ALL five of my cats had horrible diarrhea and a few were vomiting. Our older 13 year old cat was VERY ill. I did not put 2&2 together and blame it on the food right away until taking him to the vet. Like I said been feeding them this for over a year with out anything like this.
Hundreds of dollars later in blood work, labs, fecal tests, and vet visits along with many questions by my vet it was determined the food was the only common denominator left. I discontinued use of this food and changed the food. Within a day or two after 1 week of horrible diarrhea in all my cats, the situation completely cleared up with just the change of food. All 5 of my cats feeling better. 1-2 days after the food change the diarrhea is completely gone in all 5 cats and there is no more vomiting.
My older cat is still on the mend as this nearly killed him with dehydration from the vomiting and diarrhea in just a week. But he is getting better now and we hope to make a complete recovery. Future vet visits will determine if there is any long term damage from all this. He is nearly 13 years old. I can not believe all this mess can happen just from food. I am convinced it was either contaminated or they drastically changed what they are putting in their food and it makes animals ill since ALL five of my cats simultaneously developed this just after a new bag of food was opened and cleared up as soon as diet was changed.
Very, VERY disappointed in Nutrish quality control. This could have killed my cat!
