Sad to only give this docking station 2 stars, but I had to deduct 3 stars for complete stupidity on the part of iHome. Generally, the device is well thought out. The alarm is easy to set, easy to disable. The snooze, sleep, and nap (a nice touch) functions are intuitive. However, didn't the engineers at iHome think somebody MIGHT, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE have their iphone or ipad in a case??? Jeez. Most of the iphones and ipads IN THE WORLD are in cases, for obvious reasons. I'm not saying they need to accommodate EVERY CASE, and especially not the really thick ones, but they could have AT LEAST made the lightening connector long enough to accommodate the STANDARD APPLE CASES. For instance their plastic and leather cases. I have a standard issue Apple leather case for my ipad Air. No go with this docking station. The angle on the lightening connector is all wrong and when I FINALLY get it hooked up, the connector is too short to dock. I mean REALLY, how hard could it have been to make the thing a tiny bit longer so that it would work with standard ipad and iphone cases. And everyone knows it doesn't make sense to take the device out of its case on a nightly basis. This device would be great, if only I could use it as it is intended to be used.
