If you know anything about viruses and how they react to high amounts of the amino acid Arginine such as Herpes, Shingles, Chickenpox, EBV-Epstein Barr Virus (Kissing Virus we all have whether we know it or not) then steer clear of this protein collagen as the Arginine/Lysine ratio is 3:1. BP doesn't provide a breakdown on Amazon in their product description. I tried taking extra Lysine from Bulk Supplements of 1,500 mg or more per every serving of BP Collagen to equal a 1:1 ratio, but it still caused massive herpes breakouts after using for several weeks and now I'm facing a Shingles breakout on top of my head. Signs of impending Shingles breakout are tingling and burning pain. I know because this happened to my brother (only in his 40's) after he took a supplement high in arginine that caused shingles breakout on top of his forehead & went into his eye and nearly caused blindness. Yes, shingles in the eye can cause blindness. But don't take my word alone for it. Research it for yourself! Look up Arginine to Lysine amino acid ratio and high amounts of arginine invoking viruses that lay dormant in the Central Nervous System. And don't count on the Shingles vaccine working as my mother's sister in-law who's a nurse got the vaccine 6 years ago & broke out with a severe case over her body within 1 to 2 years after the vaccine. Furthermore, Author Anthony Williams, also advocates Lysine for healing and preventing viruses of all types. With Flu season upon us: H1N1, Corona and other seasonal viruses it's better to be safe than sorry. It would be helpful if BP would list the Amino Acid complex in their advertising and add additional Lysine to their Collagen. On a positive note, it is high in protein/amino acids and didn't taste bad in hot water or coffee and mixed in nicely.
