★☆☆☆☆
Not worth the money. You know what’ll happen already.
Every character is two-dimensional, undeveloped. Many of the horrors shown are downright propaganda. You'll never convince me that a doctor seriously said “Beam me up, Scotty!” to a teenage girl lying in tears on the table has he vacuated her uterus. This would have been a far far more effective tool for the prolife movement had the script been vetted and the characters presented as fully developed human beings. The former director’s character (Abby’s boss), for instance, would never have grabbed her and shoved her, threatened her about being married or for choosing to become a mother. Those are all sue-ing offenses. Her character was so flatlined, it triggered my factchecking gene. Look, as someone who is antiabortion, but not antichoice, I’m the core audience that a film like this could have reached if it had stuck to the truth and told it without cheap theatrics. Had the characters been less demonic, it might have been a more believable story. As it stands, it’ll convince no one to change their minds on either side. It’s ridiculous.
