Not complete MREs
These aren't complete MREs with all the components. I just got a case delivered and went through every bag and here is what is not included:
No cardboard sleeve for the flameless ration heater. This renders the flameless ration heater totally unusable unless you wrap it in a towel or something.
No beverage bag for the beverage base powder. This means you have no premeasured way to mix water and powder to make a drink, and you have to use a water bottle.
No accessory pack. This is one of the most important parts of an MRE for a person in the field. It contains gum, coffee, creamer, toilet paper, salt, pepper, and sometimes hot sauce. These are not included at all and it's a huge disappointment. MREs are intended to be a soldier in the field's source of toilet paper. Telling me I have a full case of MREs and have to still carry a roll of toilet paper? Unacceptable.
Another thing is that outside the main entree, the other components are not diverse at all. Take cheese spread. The common selections are...cheese spread, bacon bit cheese spread, jalapeno cheese spread, and peanut butter. Across a case of 12 meals the only one I had was regular cheese spread every single meal.
For people that live on MREs, jalapeno cheese spread is basically money. So good it can be worth a pack of cigarettes or a can of dip.
The lack of an accessory pack is just inexcusable in my opinion. How can you say you have a case of 12 complete meals that doesn't contain any coffee, creamer, salt, pepper, or sugar?
AMD what's the point of the ration heater without a cardboard sleeve?
It really doesn't matter how it tastes. MREs are meant to be a one stop shop for a lot of the needs that a person in the field needs and these just dont provide all of the components that are supposed to be included. I really feel like I got ripped off. I paid $140 for a case of MREs that are missing probably $30 worth of components that should be there.
I spent many years in the army and relied on MREs to fulfill many needs. These just dont cut it.
