Turbo Tax user for more than 25 years now. When everyone else went to H&R Block, I stayed...until now. I never have, and never will use my Turbo Tax product on a computer that is hooked up to the internet. I simply don't want our tax information imbedded in software on a computer with internet access. Never had a problem using this software before, but this year...despite buying the CD just like always, I now need to connect to the internet JUST TO LAUNCH THE INSTALLED SOFTWARE I purchased. What gives? I already paid for the product...it should work as soon as I install it. Especially since this is a one use, annual software (only good for that year's tax return). The software comes with a license code (no idea what that is for at this point) but it is not to launch the software. So now I will use the 60 day money back guarantee to return the software for a refund. And despite buying the software annually for decades, once I find another product, I will not be interested in coming back to TT. Since when did buying software come with terms and requirements not stated on the package (and not necessary to use the software). They could have made me go online (or call in by phone) and input the license code that came with the CD to get a code I could use on the non-internet computer to do my taxes. I can only assume they want to track the "up to 5" tax returns the software is marketed for. I have only ever used my software for 1 return. I hope they aren't doing this so they can get access to privacy act data on tax returns. So...if you want to purchase this for its original use, which is to do your tax return with Turbo Tax software regardless of the computer it is on, they changed their product. It now requires internet access for no reason other than to launch it for the first time. We used to live in an area (not rural) that had only DSL access (and still does..on phone lines that would not work when it rained). Our parents still live in an area that doesn't have cable and has limited DSL (rural mid-west). They use their cell phones for their internet. But this shouldn't matter. I bought the software...let me use it my way!
