Think twice before buying this beast
My vegan wife has been on a quest for a great spiralizer, and we thought this might be it. But sadly, the Veggie Bullet didn't live up to it's promise. Pros & Cons: - spiralizes soft veggies (squash/zucchini/sweet potato) pretty well. Hard veggies like carrots/beets just get chewed into big ugly chunks. And, it only does 1 thickness (her hand spiralizer does thick and thin and works on carrots and beets too) - shreds veggies into LARGE chunky shreds, but leaves a lot of waste, and our Cuisinart does a better job with 2 different shred sizes. A hand shredder is faster and less cleanup - slices okay, but only 1 thickness. Our cuisinart does 2 different thickness and does a better job. I could slice things with a knife faster than I can put all the fancy pieces together (never mind washing everything later). Another downside to this system is that is has WAY TOO MANY PARTS (the base plus 2 large bowls plus 2 large lids). It would take up an entire kitchen cabinet to store! Overall, our Cuisinart does EVERYTHING better than the Veggie Bullet but spiralize. Our $14 hand spiralizer can do a better job and is the size of a coffee mug. Plus our Cuisinart will puree soups/sauces, chop nuts etc. and only takes up 1 spot on our countertop. Had no idea this thing would be huge and useless. If you already have a food processor, do yourself a favor and buy a cheap hand spiralizer. So...we decided to take advantage of their 30-day Money Back Guarantee. BUT here's the catch. You can't get all the pieces back in the box. The packaging was cleverly engineered and it was challenging to unpack it. Both of us spent a couple of hours trying to get the darn thing repacked, but to no avail. Nutri Bullet was very unhelpful and refused to send us any directions for repacking the unit. Wish I taken pictures of each piece as we unpacked it. They are emphatic that it must be repacked exactly as it came or they won't refund our money. And so we are now stuck with a pretty useless device and empty pockets. Wish I'd never bought it. We decided to send it back for a refund, BUT we were unable to get all the pieces that had been cleverly crammed in the box back in AND NutriBullet was unable and/or unwilling to provide any instructions on how to re-pack it.
