You're led to believe this is the same Nemo's Reef that others are playing. It is not. The Amazon Underground version has NO OPTION TO VISIT FRIENDS.!? And once you run out of the pearls and others items provided at the beginning of the game, that's it. You have to collect them one or two at a time from rare fish every couple days. Yeah, a couple of pearls every few days. You can't get more for free as implied by the free in-app purchases claim. You can't collect them from friends. You are stuck. Same apparently with getting the spikes to open chests etc. Gets boring really fast when you can't really progress. I found this just as frustrating as trying to play games that require in-app purchases to get anywhere, which is why I never play those games. I was excited that Amazon was presumably going to eliminate this frustration. Guess I should have known better. Very disappointed.
