One year later - BUYER'S REMORSE
We were really excited when we purchased this unit. Sure, the battery life isn't great, but our initial excitement after the purchase had us in denial. Flash forward two months and the realization sets in that vacuuming your house is at least a two-step process, requiring having to recharge the unit for hours before you can finish the house. Flash forward 14 months (from purchase) and the unit runs consistently between 30-60 SECONDS per charge when set at the MAX power setting.
How does Dyson expect to maintain their status as a premium brand when their product is so inferior? Had I completed this review the first month, I'd have given this unit 5 stars. Just over a year later, I'd like to throw it in the trash as this $600 vacuum has become useless in less than a year and a half.
I contacted Dyson support this morning and will update this review once I understand whether they're willing to stand behind this unit. Regardless, it's unacceptable to spend this much money on a vacuum that's unusable after 14 months. I'm trying to imagine the cost per vacuum (!!) ... it's probably like $10 for every time we vacuumed the house. Ridiculous, regardless of the warranty coverage.
I'm convinced all these 5 star reviews are from people providing their feedback after the first week. Give it a little time people :)
