Cannot withstand 10 mph wind when open
It’s windy here on the Texas coast, so I had researched best shade umbrellas for wind before I bought this and found it mentioned on a website as one of the best in its price range for wind. Well, it did pretty well for about a week and a half, and I was careful to put it down when done, not have it up in high winds, used it with the optional base weights and took the extra precaution of putting two very heavy planters right on top of the base for extra weight, etc. but today it just snapped in two of the four “buttresses” that attached the pole to the cross base, and where the metal broke, I could see that underneath the black paint it was completely rusty. I have had this up for less than three weeks, and we had a little rain but not enough to rust out this metal, especially if it were properly treated/painted to begin with, so I think the metal must have been bad to being with. A shame, because I think the umbrella design I think is a good one and the top part is designed to work ok on wind, but not if the pole itself is all rusted out at the bottom and will snap.
