Yes, this is light. It is easily portable. It is well constructed with some nice features such as a hose clips and fold-out cord storage. But there are two significant problems. First the suction is very, very weak. And this after reading all the reviews about how powerful the suction is for this machine! My large shop-vac has twice the suction of this unit. In fact, I had to re-vacuum the car with the larger shop-vac because the Vacmaster left so much dirt on the floor. The second problem is the suction tubes do not stay attached. I don't care how much you squeeze them together, the plastic is very slippery and as you are vacuuming, the wide nozzle attachment falls off the tube constantly. I am very, very disappointed with this machine, and I am warning others to shop carefully since this does not perform like the reviews claim.
