Terrible design flaw! The on/off switch protrudes from the bottom!
If you are like me and prop up your kindle as you read, this Kindle (and the model before this) will not work for you either. When propped up, changing hands, turning pages etc. the on/off switch randomly turns off as I am reading. I could not even set it up without triggering the bottom button which protrudes almost 0.5mm from the bottom. If, like me, you had the idea that changing the page orientation might be a solution for the button issue, it is not. The page orientation only allows for the button to protrude from the bottom or the left side. The open, uncovered (could this really be waterproof?) charging port is next to the button, so charging while reading is almost impossible. It is also more than 1 ounce heavier than the voyage which does not seem like much until you handle it and realize that it not as ergonomic as the voyage and that the device must be held because of the button issue. Of course, the trade off is the screen, which is almost an inch wider and almost an inch wider than the Voyage. Unfortunately, bigger is not always better and can be a real disadvantage if you want to throw it in a pocket or purse. The screen is extremely bright and even when changing the “warmth” it is slightly more blue-tinged than the voyage. I was so excited to finally replace my beloved kindle voyage that is on its last legs, but alas this going to be my back-up travel kindle so I can keep my voyage as long as possible.
