★★☆☆☆
By the time you figure out the basic mechanics, you may have died at least twice. By the way, my review is VERY detailed.
I downloaded this game onto my Kindle with high hopes. I thought that it would be a Minecraft style survival game, you know, including such enjoyable aspects of Minecraft as crafting, mining for ores and other various necessities, brawling against the mobs that plague my domain, and, my favorite, building epic bases in Creative mode. But I'm sorry to say that I was l sorely disappointed. When I entered the world, I, naturally, decided to have a look around. And this led to my first disappointment. The sensitivity was ridiculously high. Once I had managed to gain a very shaky mastery of basic movement, my mind slid into a state of reliance on my basic Minecraft Instincts. So I immediately began whacking at a nearby tree with my axe, expecting some form of tree related item to be added to my inventory. I chopped for at least twenty seconds before I realized that my attempt was not going to work. I switched to my hands and tried again, but, as with the first time, nothing. Perplexed, I abandoned my task and decided to explore a bit. I easily found a village, and entered a house. I had found a chest earlier, and placed it. I didn't manage to figure out how to put items inside the chest until about twenty minutes later. The items that you want to put inside have to be in the first column of your inventory, which means if you wish to add more than the amount of items in that column, you need to put the first items inside, then exit the chest's menu and put the next set of items in the front column. Then repeat the same tedious procedure. I also finally figured out how to get items. You have to find items that have spawned on the ground, attempt to get the small white dot to point at the item you want, and press a button which appears when you get in pickup range, and is fittingly labeled "PICK". Another longer-than-it-should-be procedure. Later, I discovered the main enemy: the zombie. An extremely fast foe which is, frankly, rather scary on your first meeting. I met my first zombie at night, (though they can spawn in daytime) when I was in a small village house. It ran at me, but couldn't get to me, as half of the stupid creature was still behind the wall. I selected the axe, and, finally finding out it's only purpose, I killed it with about three direct hits. Upon death, it dropped some zombie flesh, which I picked up, then I headed back inside. It was either during that same night or the next day that I met some more zombies, and they, unlike the previous zombie, succeeded in killing me. I re-spawned in a totally random, unfamiliar area. I struck out again, and, like the first time, came upon a house very quickly. I placed a few chests and my campfire, and went outside to explore a bit. I jumped up into a truck bed and gathered a variety of useful items. I then passed through a wheat field and picked up some of the items on the other side. Unfortunately, I was startled by the appearance of several zombies. I tried to fight back, and, realizing attempts at combat were useless, I fled using the sprint button, which is the only way to outrun them. It was during my attempt to escape or possibly that night that I experienced my second death at the hand of the relentless undead. Sorely disappointed, I exited the game, then removed it from my device. FOR EVERYONE WHO WANTS A QUICK REVIEW OF THE PROS AND CONS OF THIS GAME, READ THE LIST BELOW, AND IGNORE THE REST UP TOP. Pros: Has decent graphics. Zombies provide a slight thrill to the otherwise rather bland game. Small villages, towers, houses and farms are very easy to locate. Item spawn rate is pretty fast. Start-out inventory includes most of the things necessary for basic survival. It's free. Cons: Sensitivity to finger movement is ridiculously high. Zombies are insanely fast. Trees are indestructible. Chests take too long to figure out. You need to wait for the items you need to spawn themselves, instead being able to chop down trees for wood, and mining for stone and metal. Pre-spawned shelters don't come with doors, so zombies can easily enter. Should come with tutorial. Hitting a zombie with the axe should knock it back, otherwise it can just keep damaging you until you succeed in killing it. Conclusion: In my opinion, this game has some serious potential, and, with some various tweaks and additions, could be pretty fun. One nice thing about it is, as I mentioned in my list of Pros, it is free, so if it doesn't satisfy you, there is no money lost. I hope you found my review helpful and enlightening. :)
