I have multiple clients that were excited for whole home wifi and I ran into this product and purchased the two pack for a client. I was super happy with just the 2. I put one in router mode one in node mesh mode and boom i covered a large distance and the phone / router talked to each other and connected on either 2.4 or 5 ghz automatically and picked either one of the routers with the best signal automatically I couldn't be happier!! I then decided what the heck let's mesh in the asus I was upgrading and put it to use. The MOMENT I meshed in the other router the whole network failed. I got a signal for a moment and then wifi died and then it came back and then it died ETC. I thought oh what the heck the 1 year old Asus Mesh compatible router is just junk and it screwing up the new stuff I just bought so I took it off the network as I really didn't need it anyways and the network was SOLID again. Perfect stuff! So with this experience under my belt I called up a client and told him that we could take 4 of these mesh them all give him coverage outside and inside and all around his 15000 square foot palace as I had already done and job and they worked great. So off I went I set one as a router I put one in a node and got great speeds and coverage and then I installed a 3rd one of these and as before... the whole network died. Couldn't do a thing wifi dropped and came back over and over. So I thought maybe this one is defective. Took it off the node put just the two on and bam instantly I'm back up and rolling. I put the other one on the network and of course DEAD network.I couldn't belive it. I came back and read the reviews and saw everyone else with the exact same issue. Of course I upgraded the firmware factory reset and tried and tried for hours on end and could not get more then 2 items working on a mesh at 2 different houses with 6 different routers. AI MESH WITH MORE THEN THEN 2 ROUTERS OF ANY KIND WILL NOT WORK. This is a defect and MAYBE one day Asus will make an update and this will work but for now if you plan EVER on putting on more then 2 routers steer clear. You have been warned.
