At first I really liked these garbage cans. We received many compliments and “where did you get these?” We bought 2 of them. One for recycle and one for trash. Unfortunately there is a huge design flaw. The battery compartment is not secured very well so after only 2 months of use the first trash can mysteriously stopped working. By the time we figured out the lid to the batteries had come off it was too late. The lid was somewhere in the landfill. I’ve tried duck taping and figuring out all sorts of ways to keep the batteries in but eventually they fall into the trash. We switched that trash can to be used as recycle because it wasn’t that big of a deal to not have it be electronic. Unfortunately about 6 months later the other trash can also lost the battery lid even though I was trying to be diligent with it. So now that one sits in the garage because it’s not easy to open by hand. Very disappointing.
