This unit was purchased to replace a 15-20 year old Ames Hose Reel that looked exactly the same, and has served us well. The hose guide feature was, and is, a major plus. The old unit finally broke when the central spindle/water feed rusted through and disintegrated. Because of the success of the old unit, I specifically chose this Ames product as the replacement. The new unit fitted the same wall mounts as the old one, the construction seemed a bit less sturdy than the old unit, but looked OK. I followed the installation instructions to the letter. However........... When the water was turned on, the central water feed spindle of the reel was ejected from the center of the left hand hub within a few seconds. Water issued from the end of the fitting with the two rubber O-Ring seals. See pictures of water feed/spindle component with O-Rings, and of the left hand central hub with the water feed protruding. Upon reassembly, the same problem occurred again. The unit is useless to me.
