The Anti-Joy of the 75th Edition
My girlfriend has an old copy of the Joy of Cooking and has found many wonderful recipes which she bookmarked and circled. Her copy is old and beaten up with a lot of use. I bought this copy "The 75th Anniversary" edition in great condition at a yard sale for a buck. I figured we'd have a copy at my house or she could take this new one and give me her old copy. What we discovered is that all of the recipes she loves (not most, ALL) have been excluded from this book. Every time she wanted to make Scones, Italian Hot Cocoa or whatever, the recipe would invariably be missing from the 75th Anniversary edition. This book that only cost me a buck is a space consuming useless brick sitting on my book shelf and I want it out of here. To Irma Rombauer I would like to say, "Give me all the recipes that you discarded from previous editions. That will be MY cook book."
