Overpriced Pool Floaty
Our 2 1/2 year old is an awesome sleeper and a seasoned traveler. We have put many miles on the Baby Bjorn travel crib, but sadly he has outgrown this gem. Now we need an option for travel that gets him off the floor but keeps him out of our bed. He has a toddler bed at home with a small side rail and he hasn't fallen out of it once - I can't say the same for this glorified floaty. Here's the skinny: Pros: - I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it holds (and properly fits) standard crib sheets in place. Also, it comes with a nice little pump that makes for quick inflation and deflation - it has a reverse function. Cons: - seriously smelly like cheap plastic pool toys. We inflated it before we left and let it off-gas in the garage for a week. It still stinks. - cheap thin plastic. This thing could easily pop. - the novelty factor of sleeping on a bouncy house floor is hard for a 2 year old to deal with. He wanted to bounce on it, which given the thin plastic, is definitely not a good idea. - far and away, the biggest drawback is that the kid just didn't sleep very well on it. The 1st night, I was up every hour putting him back in the bed after he either fell off the side or scooted off top and woke himself up. The second night, instead of just putting it against a wall I had to move some furniture to use a corner of the room and then used couch cushions to make a improvised side rail to keep him in bed. He only worked his way out twice that night - an improvement, but wholly unacceptable given the fact that he sleeps through the night in every other bed he's ever slept in. Plus, creating a pillow fortress might work when visiting family, but finding a suitable corner and cushions in a hotel room could be a challenge. It didn't work for us and it may not work for you, especially if you have a kid who likes to snuggle up against the headboard or the side of his crib or bed.
