Bought these in sz 9 (my usual Frye size - I own 12+ pairs) in color smoke. The color is inconsistent (not talking about "variations" of color, more like poor dye process) with the left boot having an ashy-white streak (AKA smudge from color application) right down the side of the boot. I won't complain that you cannot clear your foot through the narrow shaft (even though the size would have fit). I am no mood to have them stretched. Moreover, the sole insert is CHEAP, not the signature bench-made Frye. Lastly, the stitching is very sloppy inside with some of the threads sticking out. I am OBSESSED with Fryes for their iconic legacy and American equity. This is not it. Smells like leather, but that is about it. I would suggest you buy new "old" stock of Fryes if you want the quality they once had. Buy the white box (with black letters). If your boots / shoes come in a black box, you got the Chinese junk (even if made in Mexico - not the same high quality factory, more like a sweatshop facility quality). Shame on Frye for selling out and putting cost reduction before product quality and brand heritage!
