PLASTIC!!!!
Although this thing looks like a giant heat sink and says it has "great heat dissipation through fins", IT'S PLASTIC.
Plastic is an insulator, not a conductor and the fins DO NOT go all the way through so they actually impede airflow. It's basically a molded piece of plastic with metal bolts embedded for securing it.
It DOES fit fine and works ok for SSD's which don't get particularly hot, but I wouldn't put a 15k SAS drive in it.
Whatever claims the vendor has for heat dissipation as complete 100% BS. Do not use it if you're looking for any kind of heat mitigation or putting into a hot low airflow environment.
Also, I ordered two of these. In one normal hard drive screws worked just fine and I had no problems with them. On the other one I had to re-tap the threads because normal hard drive screws did not fit.
At $7.99 this product is extremely overpriced given that it's just a hunk of molded plastic with sometimes-working screw holes. I'm going to use the two I ordered because returning them is more hassle than it's worth, but I certainly wouldn't buy them again.
