As Useless As A Political Promise. But Not As Entertaining.
Best used as a boat anchor. not just to get rid of it, but so that's out of sight, so just seeing it won't jack your blood pressure.
Mine arrived with the strong smell of gasoline in the tank, and a large oil stain in the packaging.. I set the edger up per directions, added oil and gasoline, and it started right up. But it wouldn't develop enough power to run the blade more than an inch deep.
I put it in the garage, and this morning found half of the crankcase oil staining the garage floor.
I suspect that they get an occasional return or piece of crap that failed quality control (if any), and just send it out, hoping that some sucker will get it.
I'm disassembling it tomorrow, and checking the whole thing out. I suspect it won't take long. And then I'm tying it to one end of a rope, and the other to my rowboat.
UPDATE:
I disassembled the motor, and found the cylinder walls deeply scored. This engine was run with insufficient or no oil at all.
I repeat: I expect that the seller had it returned by a customer that botched it, and then just turned around and sold it to someone else, hoping (somehow) that the new buyer had a room temperature I.Q. and no real mechanical skills. I wouldn't buy a ball point pen from them without a personal inspection.
