As others have stated, when it's working everything is great! There are some marked problems with the unit that have been addressed in every possible way to the company. If you Google the product you will find the NUMEROUS constant problems that people face with the product. Every link on a google search will yield to a different person having one of 5 problems. I'll break down my problems with the company and how the unit itself works in the fairest possible assessment of this product. The pellets - When purchasing the pellets they are given an estimated amount of time they will work for. The pellets will not last that long. The pellets will be flushed down the hose OR tracked all over your house. They hurt to step on and will magically appear in places you never thought possible. The soap - The soap is pre-programmed to work a set number of times per unit. If you purchase the wrong type or you are supposed to be on the recurring delivery then your cartridges will not work. WHY NOT? Because there is a chip that is installed on the cartridges that allows only a certain soap cartridge to work for a set number of times. If the cat genie disagrees with your cartridge then it will not work no matter what. This is fixable though through ordering a circuit card, programming said card and setting up the card to reprogram the chip on the cat genie. For the average person? You are screwed to pay the money to get what you need if the company will deliver to you. The Unit - The heating element in the unit has gone out many times for me. There is no place (that I can find) that will ship you a replacement part. Only a new cat genie unit in total. I have had to re-solder and fix the electrical aspects of the unit at least 20 times since I started using it. The running joke around the house is how the unit never works. I'm not laughing. The way the heating element specifically is set up puts too much heat/power on the wire they chose and eventually the wire breaks thus not producing heat. The unit doesn't recognize this and will run as usual. Without the heating, the drying does not happen which causes the scooper arm to grab chunks of pellets and throw them throughout the room and into the pulverize/drain pipe. They cannot be broken down so they eventually clog the hose and create a block. This will be the first time you actually know your heating element is broken. From this point it's dealing with liquid poo water, undoing the drain clog and figuring out how to fix the heating element. The answer is out there, not hard to find but out there. The company - The Company has let me know that they do not ship to APO addresses. These have the same costs and regulations as regular US address but for some reason, they are unwilling to do so. Fair enough. We stocked up on the cartridges and pellets. Telling the representative this they allowed us to purchase over $300 worth of supplies to last us 3 years. THE REPRESENTATIVE FAILED TO MENTION THAT THESE SUPPLIES WILL NOT WORK IN OUR UNIT. We have supplies that will not work because of programming problems. I fixed this but again, the average person will have real problems with getting this to work. I waited almost a full 2 years to post this review. I'm posting it because the cat genie required me to open it up yet again attempt maintenance. Return the unit for a new one? Not possible from where I am so I have no choice but to fix it. TL;DR - DO NOT PURCHASE EXPECTING USE LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS. DO NOT PURCHASE UNLESS REASONABLE TECH EXPERIENCED. DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU LIVE APO OR MAY LIVE APO AT SOME POINT.
