When functional this carpet cleaner is great, it cleans and dries very efficiently. We used it once to clean a small living room. At 2nd use as soon as the water container was attached to the unit the water started running through the tubing onto the carpet, without pressing the water dispensing latch. I watched all of the instructional videos, read the manual, everything was assembled correctly and both times I was using lukewarm water; therefore, the plastic parts could not have been damaged. I called Hoover customer service, the product is under warranty and stopped functioning properly after one use and so I expected they would help me. Their customer service rep explained to me she has not heard about this type of problem before and that I am on the hook for the cost of the repairs. When I pointed out the product is under warranty she explained to me the warranty does not cover almost anything. I escalated the problem, another rep called me to say the warranty does cover this and then when I called back the next rep could not give me a straight answer about whether their warranty covers product failure after one use. It was quite shocking to find out that Hoover does not stand behind their products, almost as if the warranty is there just because the law requires it but doe snot have any meaning. The cleaner is now with their service center, it has been there for a month as they forgot about it, and finally on our third visit they have reached out to Hoover to get the repair parts and after waiting for weeks we will find out whether Hoover warranty is bogus or a real thing. Products do fail, nothing is perfect but a company that is unwilling to take care of their customers misses a great opportunity to create customer loyalty. If this was a ten dollar product I would not care, but at this price it is quite important the manufacturer is there to help and Hoover has been a disappointment. Update: after 2 months of waiting to find out whether the repair is covered by the warranty we were very pleased by Hoover's decision to replace the cleaner with a brand new unit. the new cleaner works great and its performance deserves 5 stars.
