While steaming some broccoli, the handles got so hot that a piece of the handle made a huge POP sound and FLEW OFF, flying across the room and landing 6 ft away, right in front of my baby daughter. The piece of handle was so hot that it would have burned anyone it happened to hit. I even had the flame on medium when this happened, because the previous day I had it over hight heat and I smelled toxic plastic burning. I figured out it was the handles because they were (extremely) hot to touch. Agreed I shouldn't have used it again but I REALLY needed a steamer the next day so I thought I could get away with using it over a medium flame. This pan should be recalled - there is a reason it is so cheap!!! Do yourself a favor and move along to the next one!!
