My bunny fell and broke its neck in this hutch!
This Hutch is very attractive, fairly easy to assemble but extremely poorly designed and made of cheap materials. The flooring is wood and if your bunny isn't litter trained yet the urine seeps right in the wood and is impossible to get out. NOW, for the ramp. The ramp is VERY steep and the hole on the second floor for the ramp is HUGE, about as long as the ramp its self. The is nothing in the design to keep your bunny from falling down from the second level to the first where the ramp begins. This fall would be about 1 1/2 feet straight down. This design flaw didn't really occur to me until the unthinkable happened. My bunny fell from the second level and broke its neck. It happened in the middle of the night. The emergency vet here in town only treats cats and dogs and could only offer me euthanasia. Hoping there was a possibility to save my bunny I tried to hold out for 3 hours to make it to the exotic animal hospital when they opened but my bunny only held on for 2 1/2. I felt completely helpless as I sobbed and had to watch my bunny slowly die. I've since modified the hutch so that the second level hole at the top of the ramp is only as big as my surviving bunny and created a wall all the way down the ramp so that my bunny can not fall off the side. I'm completely heart broken and don't want this to happen to anyone else, so if you have a smaller bunny I would also make these modifications. My hutch was also missing all of the lettered stickers on the bags and pieces of wood so that it was a puzzle trying to figure out which screws and panels the directions were talking about.
