★★☆☆☆
Not traditional
So, I expected this cookbook would have authentic African American classic recipes the way grandmas cooked. Well, I don't know about your grandma, but mine did not use Kosher salt, rice vinegar, sea salt, or the other modern foodie ingredients used in this book. I'm not saying the recipes aren't good, but they are not at all traditional. These are chef's versions of African American recipes. And, they weren't satisfied to keep things traditional; they had to change the recipes. For instance, the deviled eggs have pimento and cheese in them. This just wasn't what I was expecting.
