For one reason I threw this away. The item was above my kitchen doorway not even above my stove and if the slightest little smoke from cooking appeared anywhere across the room, the thing would go off for up to 30 minutes LOUD! The only way to tell the alarm that there's no danger is to break the tab and end its life and throw it in the landfill. An alarm should have a button to tell the alarm that you want it to turn off not kill it forever. This alarm has a 10 year guarantee and we had to throw it away after a month because we actually use our kitchen for cooking. Bad design.
