Great concept; Poor delivery
First of all, I was really excited when I purchased this. I needed a fun way to display and organize my growing BD collection. When I ordered this item, there weren't any reviews so I was sort of basing my research on reviews from Atlantic's other rotating cube storage tower.
MATERIAL QUALITY/CONDITION: 3/5
Item arrived quickly (with express shipping) with all parts included. Out of the box, I was a little unhappy due to some minor abrasions and scuffing on the veneer and poorly aligned screw holes, etc. It is entirely made of particle/plyboard and the dividers are MDF.
ASSEMBLY: 4/5
Assembly was quick and can be done with one person and instructions are acceptable.
FUNCTIONALITY: -5/5 (negative!)
The design of this product is absolutely terrible! It is essentially four wood boxes which sit atop one another on plastic "bearings." SEE MY PRODUCT PHOTOS. There is no central support whatsoever. The whole thing feels like it could tip over if you blew on it. The boxes are supposed to rotate independently of one another. Which in a sense is true for the top (maybe two) tier(s). But after that, all of the shelves above will move as well. The description states that 3 boxes rotate and the top is stationary, but there is nothing connecting the top box to the base. The only orientation it feels only slightly stable in is will all of the boxes flush to one another. Just poorly designed, poorly manufactured, poorly described, and poorly execute. And for that I am giving the functionality score of NEGATIVE 5.
Contrary to description, compartments are 5.75"x11"x8". No cubes are "fixed" and none really "rotate." There are no "steel crossbars for support" and the "non-marring rubber" feet are in fact hard plastic.
In summary: not all flat-pack furniture is the same. Some manufacturers actually intend their products to be sturdy and last for a bit. I have an entertainment stand mounted with a 60" plasma and coffee table which I've put on coasters which are years old and feel 100-times sturdier than this. Just don't buy it. Save the $60 and invest in a quality piece of furniture.
