Effective, Messed Up
I saw this book quite a bit in jails and prisons when I was a criminal defense lawyer, so I was curious. People seemed to take it seriously.
I am familiar with a lot of techniques to alter consciousness (non-pharmaceutical) and philosophical systems. I have never seen anything like this. I worked the system but did not complete it. I didn’t need to in order to figure out there was something (1) effective, and (2) seriously messed up going on.
The exercises seem designed to alter one’s relation to reality. And I believe they would work on some people. For example, your arm is not your arm. God only knows the kind of dissociation it’s aiming at. And not to drift into conspiracy theories, but it’s connection to the infamous MK-ULTRA program just adds to the creepiness.
Avoid. Whatever you’re looking for isn’t here.
