torn and smelled like burnt rubber; problems with customer service (*see update*)
The red satin lining was torn and the cape somehow smells like burnt rubber. Item is the worst "velvet" I have ever seen, very stiff and not soft at all, like "velveted" plastic or something. I want to return item, but info says you have to contact seller WITHIN 3 DAYS of getting item, AND pay 20% restocking fee!! This was NOT mentioned in item description. This item is going in the garbage. A waste of money."
**UPDATE**
I wrote the original review on Sep 20, 2011. The next evening I had an e-mail from a supervisor at 7th Avenue. She had read this review and wanted to help. She wanted to offer a replacement cape, but they were on backorder. She instead offered me a discount once they were back in stock. I was not happy at all with the poor quality of the torn cape I received, so I certainly don't want another one!
She also said they actually have a 30 day return policy but ask that customers contact them within 3 days of receiving the item if there's a problem. However, you still have to pay the 20% restocking fee, loose your initial shipping charge ($12.05 for basic shipping!)then of course have to pay to ship the item back to them. The money I'd get back wouldn't cover the gas to take the item to the post office.
I received a total of 3 emails from 7th Avenue, asking me to change my review on their site page, even how to change my Amazon review. They were very concerned about my comments, but never said they would waive the 20% restocking fee for the torn cape I received. This makes me wonder if they will try to resell this item to someone else.
I don't know what the quality of 7th Avenue's other items is like, but based on this experience, I will not order from them again.
