Will never read this again. Ever.
I have never been more disappointed in the last book of a series than I was reading this book. Normally I reread a series at least 3-4 times. Because of this book I will never read this series again, no matter how much I loved the first two books. They are ruined. Forever.
SPOILERS
I found this book far too different from the other two books. I did not like seeing into Tobias' head at all. Part of what I enjoyed with the first two books was the general mystery surrounding Tobias and how he affected Tris. This book was just, oh hey here is how Tobias is feeling and here is how Tris is feeling. It took all the fun out of trying to understand their relationship and we focused strictly on their actions. I was not invested in the story because of this and I even had to flip back to the first page in some of the chapters because their thoughts had the exact same style and I wasn't sure whose head I was in.
Then the ending. That choice flushed away this entire series. We don't read these types of books for realism. I personally read these books to escape from reality not have it slap me in the face. The death wasn't in any way worthy for the character that was built up through these books. It was a death that left you questioning if she even had the right to do that to everyone at the compound. It threw away this moral and selfless person and had her do the very thing that she hated. In my mind it was just as bad as resetting the city. Only David and the council were responsible for those big decisions that affected Tris so much yet she reset everyone in the compound, guilty and innocent. It didn't fit her. The rest of the book after her death was one of the most painful and pointless things I have ever read. There was nothing to take away from it but heartache, and I have enough of that without this book thank you very much.
