Item is counterfeit, not a real clarisonic!
This was my first experience with receiving a counterfeit item on Amazon; before that I didn't even realize such a possibility existed. My clarisonic mia lasted less than a 3 months and I was under the impression the manufacturer was great and would help replace the item. However, when I tried to resolve the issue through clarisonic directly I was informed that the serial number was a fake and that they couldn't help me. I felt very naive at that point because when the item arrived in an opened box with no user's manual it should have tipped me off. I have received several counterfeit items from Amazon since, including a phone charger of all things. Why on earth would someone manufacture knock-off phone chargers when they are already so cheap to begin with?? I am starting to get very frustrated with what seems like a very lax and lazy policy on Amazon's end in policing counterfeit items being sold under their banner. You would think they would take more pride and not allow such practices and require proof of authenticity before a seller is allowed to sell on their site. What if someone were to get hurt from one of these cheap knock-offs? Honestly, this should definitely be illegal. I understand if you choose to buy something on the black market for cheap and already know it is counterfeit (and illegal), but there is never any way to know something is not authentic on Amazon until you have paid for and received the item. I love being able to buy something and not pay tax or shipping but have had to limit my purchases and no longer risk purchasing high-end items for fear they will be cheap, junky wastes of money that I may not be able to return. I have since purchased a clarisonic through the company directly. It was more expensive and I had to pay tax and shipping, but it has worked well for the past 2 years with no issues and no signs of crapping out on me, so the extra money was well worth it. Just saying, buyer beware when shopping on Amazon!
