It REALLY works... AND it burned my skin off 😬
First, the reviews of other buys are true: this product REALLY works to lay down hair for braids. My braids look very clean. I am getting better at braiding but this product also was responsible greatly. I don’t care for the smell (reminded me of a grandpa aftershave), but it’s not terribly long lasting like some of the gels out in these streets. Like many of us, I had to start doing (and first learn how to do) my own braids during the pandemic. I cannot use Shine and Jam because it breaks my hair off. 🤨 I eventually made my own beeswax butter. But I wanted to check one more time for a good gel and found this one. While braiding, I had this on the back of my hand for a *portion* of the 5 hours I was braiding for easy access—towards the end. When I finished and was in the shower, I noticed that my hand was burning as the water hit it. Ruh-roh. I knew it was the exact spot I’d had the gel, and just thought I’d watch it. Today, the next day, the photo is what I saw: my skin appears to have “burned off.” 😬 It’s raw, sore, and looks like something has “eaten” away at the first layers of skin. I don’t have sensitive skin and am not prone to these types of things. But if you continue to use it, please be aware of what “could” happen to your skin. It was a bit alarming. I want to be clear, it has not affected my scalp or anything else (praise be) but it’s a risk I’m not willing to take. I won’t be using this anymore and will be going back to my pure homemade mix where I know all the ingredients.
