My husband has always wanted a frig with the ice maker in it. We have noticed that they do not seem to be an ideal thing based off of taste and smells that we have noticed in others refrigerators. This is perfect, there is a little more legwork in that you do have to fill the reservoir, but you can see all the inner workings and could see if mold would be growing. We have a berkey water purifier that we use to supply the water, our ice cubes are fresh and taste WONDERFUL! The kids also were briefly amaze to watch the ice machine go through it's pacing creating wave after wave of fresh ice. Out of Ice! no need to wait more than 6 minutes for it to produce a new batch... If you can stand the wait to make a slice of toast, then you'll be good for the ice. :). * After two months of use, the cube tray sticks and does not lift to the proper position, then it errors out. So from 5 to 1 star, we have been extremely happy till this, upon a happy resolution, this will affect the current rating... So he had it limping along for 18 months, just ripped it apart today, what initially had happened is that when the ice jams, it broke the plastic that connects the water trough to the motor that rotates the trough. It broke funny, so by coaxing it by gently pulling the trough, we were able to get an additional 16 months. Never did hear anything from the manufacturer, but a little reinforcement might help, or could burn out the motor. Who knows, but she is dead now. (it has fully worn away the plastic.) I would definately recommend getting the warrenty!
