Unless you *love* coconut milk - don’t do it.
Flavor is subjective, but if you in any way have an acute palate (I’m looking at you wine, scotch, and cocktail folk among us), the pineapple is PREVALENT. It has the mouthfeel of cow’s milk, but otherwise it’s a tropical mouth bomb. Like if a wee coconut and pineapple became determined in their childhood to become cow’s milk, worked their cute delusional butts off through every obstacle, but alas, at the end of the day, there’s no denying their tropical nature. That’s this.
For reference: I’m vegan and typically reach for Califia almond milk or occasionally oat (great in coffee, though sometimes it’s too “oaty” for me elsewhere). I have an aversion to coconut-flavored things that shouldn’t have coconut (read: vegan life in the early 2000s *every* substitute was either coconut or soy-based and it ruined coconut for me). That said, when I did drink dairy milk, I always went for the full fat, non-homogenized varieties. Your Mill-king, Oberweis, etc: rich, decadent, fresh milk flavor.
I’ve never felt so inclined to write a review (it’s been a good 6 years since I’ve done so), but I just needed to give you a heads up. In case you were going into this with a glimmer of hope that it was going to taste like cows milk, but without all of the negative aspects of dairy... please remove that hope. This is not the Impossible/Beyond burger of milk. Whoever said that needs to kindly show themselves out.
It’s not offensive. If you enjoy coconut milk - you will LOVE this. It would be the coconut milk of gods. Something to luxuriate in. But if you prefer your non-dairy milk to be a good supporting actor to your drink/foodstuffs and not overpower the flavor... then look elsewhere.
