Actually, I would have given it 4 stars at least -- the sound is very good, and it's compatable with my nice, expensive Dell monitor (attaches right to the bottom) which is what I wanted -- no extra power cord, or additional cords running to my laptop. BUT (and it's a big one) when connected to the monitor (as it's DESIGNED to be) via the wired USB cord... this speaker emits a CONSTANT low-volume screech.. guaranteed to make you claw your eyes out after a few hours. If I connect the very same USB cable directly to my computer... problem solved. But I really didn't want to add to the bundle of cables running through my desk. I'll live with it, but Boo Dell. FYI: The workaround, according to several (including Dell) online forums: Wrap your brand new speaker in tin-foil. Yes folks, the speaker is apparently not properly shielded... which is just plain stupid. I refuse to jerry-rig a brand new Dell speaker that was supposed to be compatible with my brand new Dell monitor. Dell should remedy this immediately. Bad build quality that could have been avoided. #DellFail
