Before you buy and what you should know.
Before you buy and what you should know.
I recently bought the Wagner Control Pro 130 Power Tank Paint Sprayer after a complete failure of the FLEXiO 3000 HVLP Paint Sprayer (Which is garbage and should be recalled). If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the Graco Magnum Project Painter Plus Paint Sprayer or the Titan ControlMax 1700 High-Efficiency Airless Sprayer and here is why.
The Wagner Control Pro 130 Power Tank Paint Sprayer isn’t a bad product. If you need to do a few rooms, including ceilings and large rooms, this product works and works well.
Pros:
1. This product is easy to use. I’m a novice with paint sprayers and I found that this product (with a little practice) easy to use. I was able to paint large walls (including ceilings) and rooms quickly.
2. This product has little assembly required and you can pull this product from the box and then use within 5 min. (There is a youtube video show how to use this product.)
3. You also can use different tips for different projects. You can use latex (without thinning), mineral, or stains with the Wagner.
Cons:
1. In theory, you “could” do exterior projects. If you’re painting the exterior of a house, this product falls short. Reason being is that you would have to fill the tank every 10 min. So, going up and down a ladder just to fill the tank was a bit annoying. If you need to stain a deck or fence, this product can work. You can use a 5-gallon bucket with the Graco or Titan.
2. What you should really know is that Wagner was recently bought out by Titan. If you don’t have additional tips for the Wagner, the Titan tips “are” compatible, but you’ll have to buy a Titan Tip guard as well. (about $30)
3. With the above mentioned, it was more difficult to find accessories like gun filters, tips, and extension poles.
4. Wagner only has two settings. Prime and Spray. The Wagner has 0.50 Hp and can’t spray latex through the 211 or more detailed spray tips. I was using the 515 and 413 tips and I felt that I was wasting paint on smaller corners and narrow walls. It would have been nice if the 211 worked.
5. Cleaning is a pain. I know the video makes it easy, but it takes about 20 minutes to clean. What I do is dump the paint into my can, fill that up with soap and water, prime, spray, dump again, clean the tank (again), use clear water, prime, spray, just to ensure the paint is out of the hose.
6. My Wagner is currently leaking paint on the bottom somewhere and I have yet to call the manufacturer for troubleshooting. Once I do, I’ll post the solution.
7. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT WET! If you do get it wet, make sure that its unplugged and then let dry. I cleaned the exterior of this product with a damp sponge, or a friend of mine cleaned it with a damp sponge and got the switch wet. When I was priming the Wager with clean water, (it was my friend), it delivers a very nice shock that can make your hair raise.
I’ll keep this product for small projects for stains only. I refurbish older furniture and I think the product will do well for that. If I had to do bigger projects, such as exterior/interior homes, I’ll upgrade to a Titan.
Hope this Helps..
