Buyer Beware
I am currently on my fourth pixel c, purchased directly from google. I ordered on Dec. 10th, 2015. I paid extra to have it overnighted (along with the metal keyboard). Unfortunately, the touchscreen was unresponsive. I called support, and was told that this is a known issue, and that a replacement tablet would solve the issue. I accepted. Google sent a replacement device, and the touch screen was very responsive. However, my existing keyboard would connnnnnstantly dddddiiiiiisssconnect and reconnect making typing very difficult; and would repeat key presses. I called support, and was told that this was a known issue, and that I should replace the tablet. I did so; and was sent my third Pixel C. When it arrived, I was thrilled to find that the keyboard and the touchscreen worked as described in Google I/O. However, there was a clicking noise when pressing the screen on the left hand side only. Support asked me to upload a video to youtube, as various users had reported this. It can be found here: https://youtu.be/k7aH00QRq5A
After I was told this would be escalated to engineers, and that often refurbished devices were sent out as replacements, that might be what the issue with this device could be. After a week I started to experience as well the bluetooth keyboard problem. I was asked if I would send that Pixel C to the engineers directly; and the RMA process was lengthy. The response was that the one I sent in worked properly, and that with moderate pressure clicking is to be expected. Which is odd, because I didn't experience it with the other devices, nor this one that I am currently using.
So now I'm on my fifth Pixel C. The keyboard still disconnects, though not as frequently. The touchscreen works fine, and does not click. But now after using it for 3-4 days- I've found that it randomly reboots. It has happened while performing basic tasks. Support has been sub par; however it is not the contracted companies at fault.
I believe this device and it's accessories were rushed to market. Furthermore I believe the engineers suggested that further development and testing be performed; but marketing/sales/management over ruled in order to push this device to market. Buyer beware. Do your research; but don't do it from google.com
