False and Misleading Claims
Since mites and bedbugs often secure themselves to the pillow or mattress fabric, UV light would have to kill them where they are located and not expect to kill them only after they are vacuumed up. So, the UV light would have to be in a position to emit light on the surface being vacuumed and both the pictures and text would have you believe this is what the product does. But, when you get it, you can see there is no light on the bottom of the device and the instructions that come with it do not show its location or how you would replace it once the bulb fails. After careful examination I found blue light (you can't see UVC itself but the bulb does emit visible blue light) coming from a point inside the device BEHIND the rotating beater bar brushes. Both the length and position of this light make it completely useless. First, only what is sucked up would be illuminated with any substantial amount of UV and, once it is, it would be captured in the Hepa-filter anyway making the irradiation superfluous. Second, the temperature they claim the air is heated to (40 C) is inadequate to kill either mites or bedbugs. Now, you can find articles on the web which show only marginally additional effectiveness for UV + vacuum but even these articles assume the vacuumed surface is illuminated with UV rays to achieve the small extra benefit. If you aren't even getting that, why bother? I would label this product as a complete waste of time and money.
