Broke twice, same part - motor bracket
I really wanted to like this saw but after two failures I have to rate it one star. The first saw failed after 100 cuts or so. It started to make a grinding noise and the chain would not move. One year later the replacement saw failed with the same problem; a broken motor bracket (see attached picture). I checked for a replacement part only to find that it is not available. I tried holding a magnet to the part but it would not stick; no iron, possible pot metal? Whatever the material it obviously is not a good design. The four year warranty is nice but not worth much if the saw keeps breaking, especially when it takes two months for repairs. If not for the repeated bracket failure I would have rated it four stars. The saw has a good feel and balance and when cutting high branches it does a good job. There is one design flaw that I would like to see improved: the chain tension adjustment screw is a #1 phillips and is located in such a way that there is insufficient room to handle a screwdriver without hitting ones knuckles against the bar. A hex head screw or better yet a thumbwheel would be a better design. Maybe the repair will include a better design? Greenworks are you listening?
