★☆☆☆☆
Extremely predictable, cheesy romance
To be fair, I have to begin by saying that I am not a big fan of cheesy, Harlequin-type romances. Still yet, this book was terrible. Mild spoilers (although the plot of the book was so predictable, I'm not sure you could spoil it) 18-year-old virgin barely out of high school sees a gorgeous, filthy rich real estate playboy from across a crowded room while she is working as a server for her sister's catering business. They see each other across this crowded room and fall madly, insanely in love with each other. This thirty-something year old man chases after younger girl and woos her with sweet nothings like "I've been jacking off thinking of your sweet tits every night since I first saw you." Ew. The young lady has never seen a real penis before, but on their first date she performs oral sex that was, according to our 30-something playboy, the best he has ever had in his entire life (and we get the impression that is saying a lot). There are some pretty graphic sex scenes, which I was OK with, but the story line was so trite and predictable. Young girl is swept off her feet by an older billionaire. Lots of long, drawn out descriptions off their "stuff", designer clothes, yachts, engagement ring, etc They marry and ten years and two kids later, the spice seems to have gone out of their marriage. That could have made for an interesting story, but the book is mainly filled with the heroine daydreaming back to the early days of their romance when everything was steamy and hot. Then suddenly they are an old married couple with kids. Things come to a head that manages to be both predictable and unbelievable at the same time. The end was pure cheese. I got to about the 25% mark, then got pissed off that I was wasting my time reading this, so I skipped ahead to around the 85% mark, just so I would know how the book ended. By skipping half the book, I don't feel like I missed a damn thing, so that tells you something about the story line. I saw all the five-star ratings, and I just really don't get it.
