While the quality and the price of the board was acceptable when I received it I noticed a few things that really made it apparent to me that there was minimal thought put into this Chess set. The first was that is does not sit flat at all. The problem is that the hinge in the middle gets in the way so the ends of the board sort of sag and cause the pieces to want to move slightly. Second, was the game play area, it's misaligned. For some folks that might not be a problem. For me however, it's quite annoying. In the middle where the two halves should meet up nice and square they are off by a good 1/8th inch if not a little more. Finally, there is a large chunk of the edge of the top of game board missing, kind of like they dropped it during manufacture or splintered the wood but it's all filled in with stain and filler looks really crappy. It's a chess board...so I kept it, but honestly I wish I would have spent my money on a nicer board. Just wanted to let anyone here know what they may receive when purchasing this.
