A fatal flaw in an otherwise good kettle. The spout pours well with no trace of drips, the blue light is great, the rotatable feature is nice, the auto-shutoff has worked every time, & I can see where the large capacity may be helpful for many users. But after 2 weeks & more than 2 dozen full fills brought to a boil, it still smells awful, & makes half the house smell bad too! You know that place near the Harbor, the one with all the Freight? You know how some of the rubber & synthetic fabric items there smell really bad when they get hot in the sun? When my specimen of this kettle gets hot, it smells just like that, only Stronger! Whatever the reason for it(bad batch of plastic?), it's just not acceptable. If you get one with no bad smell, I suspect you'll like it a lot. But if it smells like mine when it heats up, you won't like it at all. I've started the return process with mine. Too bad.
