****2/27/18 UPDATE**** Down to 1 star. Every single one of these fans develops the grating/screeching/grinding problem. Vornado's response is to have you destroy your fan (cut power cord at base), send them a picture with power cord and serial number in the photo, and then ship you a new one. They do this relatively quickly, but it's a huge waste. Going to go through yet another replacement and hope that 8 months later they've improved their manufacturing process, but I'm not hopeful. ****Original Review**** This is my 3rd VFAN Jr. All 3 of them have developed a high-pitched grinding noise. Have it in both white (at home) and Chrome (at my desk at work). Chrome at work developed high pitched whine, Vornado quickly and easily replaced fan for me, new fan developed same grinding noise within a few days. Completely unacceptable for the price. Fan at home also developed grinding noise within about 2 weeks. Recommend avoiding if in a situation where you'll hear the fan noise. I'm living with it until I get motivated enough to disassemble and figure out what's causing it. I'll note that I have this fan in standard and large sizes as well - those are performing just fine and have not developed the same sound. It's only the Jr. model that does it.
