I love these classic goals
Let me start off by saying: I have never written a review for a product until now.
I am an avid Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan and have been playing the games from day one. I was so excited for THPS5 and pre-ordered the game only to be completely let down.
1) There isn't really a Career/Story mode. Just 10 levels to complete tasks (collect S-K-A-T-E, C-O-M-B-O, and the secret tape, etc.). Don't get me wrong, I love these classic goals, but there's nothing much else to it because I can't access missions (see number 2). There also aren't any time limits like the classic 2:00 limit, so the difficulty and challenge isn't there.
2) The game simply doesn't work. There are mission markers that you skate up to and hold square to play, but the controls don't work. I hold square and nothing happens. I also can't even manual in the game, so I couldn't complete any combo goals. The game is just plain glitchy.
3) Create-a-skater doesn't exist. You can only customize pro-skaters. The "secret" character is Lil Wayne... Lil... Wayne. I sure do miss Spiderman, Jango Fett, Darth Maul, and Ollie the Magic Bum (maybe they are unlockable, but I don't even want to go through the tedious and disappointing gameplay to unlock them).
4) Can't control music or playlist, which was a huge aspect of previous games in the franchise.
5) Graphics are pretty rough, especially for a PS4. I saw this coming and was willing to look past it, because it's an arcade style game that doesn't strive for realism, but it's a glitchy mess. All of the pro skaters are the exact same height in the menu. There's no attention to detail whatsoever.
6) The best way to sum it all up is that the game feels empty. So many features and fun elements that were present in previous console generations don't exist. This game feels rushed, broken, and empty. I can't believe that the makers actually sold this in its condition. I feel completely robbed. I thought it might be a case of "high expectations", but I caught myself making excuses for the game makers and terrible experiences. This game is just bad.
