We purchased this system for a rental we are remodeling. When you first install the system the cold water comes out blue and the hot, green. This diminished after a few days of leaving the water running but the water never did come out completely clear. Over the next couple of months working on the property I noticed a smell to the water and brown, fuzzy chunks coming into a toilet bowl. I opened the toilet tank and it looked like a fish tank that had not been cleaned in months. It was growing brown algae. I know it was not this way before because I had removed the tank for wall repair and painting. I looked in another tank and there was a bubbly film of green algae about a quarter-inch high growing on top of the water. We called Nuvo and the customer service gal told us if you leave the house for 24 hours or more the cartridge needs to be removed (which is a wet process). She told us to remove the cartridge immediately because if the system sits it grows bacteria. When we asked about the 90-day warranty she said our plumber would have to ask for the refund since he bought it. We are removing the system and attempting to get our money back. I'm also considering contacting the health department.
