The house I am renting came equipped with several Kidde P3010L battery-only smoke alarms. Since we moved in (6 months ago), at least 5 of these alarms have gone off. Three or four of these have gone off when there was no discernible smoke, and nobody was cooking. These alarms are, amazingly, single-use, so when they go off we are left without alarms until they can be replaced. Because of the high failure rate, several rooms in the house have been left unprotected for lengths of time that seem unsafe.
