For the most part, the 770 is fantastic. Until you try to navigate with it.
I've been a loyal Garmin customer for years. We recently purchased a new motorhome and the navigation system had a lot to be desired. I decided to give the RV 770 a try.
For the most part, the 770 is fantastic. Until you try to navigate with it. The screen is crisp and bright. Controls are intuitive and all commands perform instantly. Route calculations are a little slow but there are a lot of factors being processed. Bluetooth only works occasionally with my Galaxy Note Edge (This can have something to do with the phone).
My major problem is when I try to navigate. I took my motorhome in for repairs and the dealer is about 50 miles away. On average it takes me about 75 minutes to get there. The 770 tried to route me miles out of the way in multiple directions. At first I attributed this to my request to avoid u-turns so I turned that avoidance off. It still tried to route me the 2.25 hour route. I then switched to the car profile. It still took me the long way around. Since I knew how to get there, I decided to take off and see if it would recalculate. The GPS tried to reroute me my entire trip, even when I was 1 mile away from the dealer on a 4 lane highway it tried to make me take a turn on small 2 lane roads and even a dirt road once.
So according to Garmin, I should avoid a 4 lane highway in my 41' motorhome but a single lane dirt road is more than acceptable.
I've never returned a Garmin product but I think this thing is going back.
