This accessory is a total rip off. One would think that you should be able to mirror what you see on the iPad on a TV or monitor, but it does not work like that... Instead, it is up to the application developer to output video on this thing. What does this mean? that almost none of the apps in the App Store use this cable, and there is no way to force the iPad to mirror those application displays on your TV or monitor. To add insult to injury, Apple's own Keynote App, which I was thinking of using for presentations, does not work with this thing. Oh the irony... I think Apple should provide an option in Settings where we, users, decide if we wish to replicate the iPads's video on an external device (and by default the option should be set to YES, otherwise, why would you buy this connector and plug it into the iPad?). And do not get me wrong, I love Apple products (I own an iPhone, an iPad, and a MacBook Pro), but this is simply ridiculous...
