This is my first time trying ginger turmeric tea, so I can't comment on the flavor of the tea, as it compares to other brands; however, the packaging of this particular tea is what will prevent me from purchasing it again. The tea bags, which go in the boiling water, are composed entirely of PET plastic. And less concerning, but equally terrible for the environment, the tea bags are individually packaged in single-use plastic pouches. Call me naive, but I had no idea that full-on plastic tea bags were even a thing. I mean it's well known that plastics subjected to extreme temperatures can cause them to release microplastic particles. Anyway, I read a Washington Post article about how these tea bags release billions of microplastic particles into the tea, which you then consume. Now, the science is not in yet as to the potential health impacts, on humans, of consuming microplastics, but animal studies on the subject are not encouraging. I mean, come on, how much more expensive are natural paper pouches and cotton tea bags? At least we KNOW that those material are safe. And for a product meant to increase the health of consumers, you would think that the method of delivery would be as health-promoting as possible, right? I'm very disappointed in this company, and I will not be purchasing their products, again.
